David is a former Soloist of the Royal Ballet company and now a teacher and Learning and Participation Creative Associate (Ballet) with the Royal Opera House. He trained at the Royal Ballet school, joined the company in 1990 and was promoted to First Artist in 1994 and Soloist in 1999. On retiring from dancing in 2014 he was appointed Education Administrator and was awarded an MBE for his services to the arts and education.
Born in Barnsley and brought up in Leeds. His repertory with the Company included Von Rothbart and Benno (Swan Lake), Paris and Tybalt (Romeo and Juliet), Ratkin (A Month in the country) and The Mouse King in (Nutcracker ) amongst others.
As Education Administrator for the Company David is involved with several Outreach projects organized by the Learning and Participation department at the Royal Opera House, such as the Chance to dance Project which Diana is now a part of. He participated in a 2012 tour made by members of the Royal Ballet Company to Rio De Janeiro, which included dance workshops with local communities and also was part of a team from the Royal Ballet involved in an episode of ITV’s “What would be your Miracle”, helping a young girl suffering from Cerebral Palsy achieve her dream of dancing. He was made an MBE in 2018.
